Studio Diary: March 2/2019

Spent the evening in the studio! Saturday's are my usual days for recording/writing, so if I don't do it during the week, Saturday's are my dedicated studio days! Made a lot of progress today!! Only worked on a couple of songs, but made a lot of progress on, mainly one of them! Getting more and more excited for this album to be done! Feel very inspired!! Trying out all kind of techniques for these songs... stuff that I wouldn't normally do... yeah, excited!

Studio Diary: Feb 28/2019

Went for a walk before working in the studio this evening. The weather here has been all over the place; cold, not cold, extremely cold... doesn't know what it's doing. Listening, and tweaking here and there again. Even though it's going slow... I would call it progress! Once again, I will say, I'm trying to get this album done sooner rather than later... hence why I'm spending more time with it. Tomorrow should be more productive (it's a half-day at work... soo that means I can spend more time with it)!

Studio Diary: Feb 27/2019

Slow moving in the studio... tweaked things here and there, added here and there. I could insert something motivational here, but most of you know, I'm pretty motivated when it comes to music! If you're new here, well now you know... I'm a highly motivated individual, and I'm trying to spend as much time as possible in the studio... sometimes things flow out like crashing waves, and sometimes things are a little slower. I would like to get this album done as soon as possible... but not sacrificing quality in the process! Honestly, I'm quite inspired when a musician/artist does albums in short periods of time... I think Skinny Puppy put out 2 albums a year back in the day, if I'm not mistaken (not sure how many times they did that, but I find it highly inspirational)! Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails wrote and recorded "The Slip" in a matter of 3 weeks... some rap artists like Jay-Z do albums in a 3 week period! Yeah, I find that inspirational... and in my opinion, I think all these artists sound great on those albums... the process has become so normalized, to spit out an album in that time is no problem... yeah... 😉

Studio Diary: Feb 25/2019

Sometimes spending some time away from the studio, or even working on multiple songs at once, can really change things, and you can come from a different perspective and feel inspired. Wasn't sure what to expect today in the studio, but was listening and I could start to hear parts of songs that weren't there (not too sure how to explain this more correctly, but yeah... sometimes when I'm listening, I'll hear something that isn't actually in the song, but fits perfectly... so I go and create those parts, and yes they do fit perfectly and naturally)! Definitely, progress today... even if they were only minor parts! Can't wait for the next session!!

Industrial Music Monday - Purity+Control

Well, it's been a while since we've done one of these things, but I have been really busy the last little while, and haven't really had time... but we are back at it, and you know what that means... Industrial!! This week we have a band out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada... their music is in the vein of experimental, EBM, with industrial elements! The band consists of two members; Slava Nartakhov (Synths and Sequences), and Jordan Gioplasty (Vocals). They are called: Purity+Control!! Check their latest EP out!!

Making slow progress on the new album. Lot's of listening going on in the studio these days, feel like I'm not really sure where I want to take things musically... gonna stay vigilant and continue until inspiration strikes!
