Festival: Terminus: Velocity

Well, as many of you know, Terminus festival has once again happened this year! I have to be honest, this year was a little underwhelming. It seemed that there weren’t too many industrial bands this year. Seemed like it was industrial light. However, the festival was still good! There were some bands I was looking forward to seeing!   Here are some of the highlights from the show:

Day 1:

Digital Winter:   I’ve seen these guys many times before at local shows here in Calgary. They ended up opening the festival, and they did not disappoint! Matter of fact, I think this is probably one of the best performances they’ve put on ever!

iVardensphere:   Well, what is there to say, iVardensphere put on an excellent performance! They just recently added the Taiko drumming crew (permanently) to their live lineup, and yep… Good!!

Dive:   This was the highlight of the evening! I have to be honest, I’m not too familiar with Dive or Dirk Ivens, but the performance was amazing! As of recently, I’ve been listening to more noisey type stuff and when Dive came on stage I was quite impressed (musically and performance)! He is a one man show, but he had an incredible stage performance, and he has incredible stage presence!

Day 2:

The Body:   This band is more of a metal/noise band with noise/electronic elements. Their setup was a guy on bass/guitar/vocals (with some kind of noise/electronic setup) and a drummer.   All I have to say: Really fuckin noisey! Really good! I will probably be picking up their album/releases!

Cocksure:   Well, I was expecting them to be good, and they did not disappoint!  They even had a dancing naked man join them on stage (Ayria’s drummer)!

This Morn Omina:   This Morn Omina were good! I have not listened to too much of their stuff, but I always find live shows are a great way to be introduced to their (bands) stuff!   Members of iVardensphere also joined them on stage for the entirety of the performance, which I think enhanced the whole the live show!

Day 3:

Aesthetic Perfection:   I’ve seen Aesthetic Perfection 6 or 7 times now (not sure exactly how many times, but it’s somewhere around there).   This time, Aesthetic Perfection performed songs from Daniel Graves old side project Necessary Response!   No drummer this time around, just keyboardist and him, but still an excellent performance!

Well, those were the highlights, like I mentioned, this year was a little underwhelming. There wasn’t too many bands I was excited about, but the bands that I was excited about put on excellent performances! Thank you Dickens Pub for putting on these events! We’ll see what next year brings!!
